Telling stories in a meaningful way has always been at the heart of my work.
Corus Radiothon for the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation
Every year, Corus Edmonton supports the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation and their mission to deliver world-class specialized care to kids in Western Canada through an annual fundraiser. Throughout the two day broadcast, families and patients share their journeys at the Stollery, encouraging Albertans to donate to the cause. I had the privilege of merging these stories with music, adding depth to the narrative and connecting with our listeners' emotions.
I’m proud to have been a part of this remarkable radiothon for 4 executions between 2020-2023.

CISN Country’s Yards for Hope
Another fundraising effort I had a big hand in production-wise was CISN Country’s Yards for Hope in support of the charity, Hope Mission. The outreach program provides food, temporary housing, counselling and, most importantly, emergency care to homeless and vulnerable groups all over Edmonton and surrounding area. Around Thanksgiving every year, former clients share heartfelt stories of how Hope Mission gave them a second chance - often starting with a meal. Every $1,000 raised during the 27 hour broadcast, the team would walk 1 yard down Commonwealth Stadium, with the goal of making it 110 yards to the other side. Further, the team spent the night on the turf (with no heaters or tents, by the way!) to gain a perspective of what it’s like to be one of Edmonton’s homeless. To assist in this, I mixed those heartfelt stories with music to strike a chord with the listeners and encourage them to donate.
I’m proud to have been a part of this campaign for three executions between 2020 and 2022. We raised over $392,000 during our 2021 broadcast, surpassing the previous record by $30,000! Because of this, CISN Country’s Yards for Hope was recognized as a runner up for “Best Community Service Initiative - Large Market” in the 2021 Broadcast Dialogue Awards.
Willy in the Morning
In fall of 2020, during the height of the coronavirus pandemic, Chuck @ 92.5 launched a brand new morning show called Willy in the Morning. Even though it’s broadcasted out of Vancouver, our team skillfully incorporated Edmonton stories, creating a sense of locality for our listeners. As the FM Content Producer, I was in charge of getting the show on the air and ensuring that it ran smoothly. At the same time, I created social media posts for the 3 markets they aired in, managing the texts coming in and executing contests. I also crafted daily promos and handpicked 'Best Of' content that aired in its place whenever the show took a break.
The addition of the show helped boost the radio station’s market share, ranking from #13 at launch to a peak of #5 in our key demographic of Adults 25-54. (Numeris PPM Ratings - Spring 2023 - Edmonton)
Commercials and Sonic Branding
In between the different projects I contributed to, I produced commercials for several clients and sonic branding pieces to tailor to the announcers’ needs. Each one has a different scope, which requires multiple avenues of approach to get the best product possible. During my time with Pattison Media in Prince Albert, my output averaged about 25-30 commercials a day. In some occasions, I would also be in charge of production for other markets, further adding to the stack. Even with my capacity constantly changing, the quality never suffered. I also had the privilege of working with talented announcers, who often challenged me to build outrageous pieces for on-air bits. Through collaboration, I was able to build off and improve on their ideas to further connect with our listeners.
